One of the biggest challenges while maneuvering through the phases of the single mom cycle is thinking you already failed, you’re alone, and not understanding the “why” behind this situation. Being a mom is hard, but being a single mom and having limited support throughout this journey is even harder. It will cause things like depression, loneliness, and anger to eat away at you in a way you could have never imagined. While emotionally, mentally, and physically struggling, we often isolate ourselves or think this was the worst thing that could have ever happened to us. Better yet, we sometimes feel only this has happened to us. It’s not until we decide to accept this situation and all that comes with it and start to address the good, bad, and ugly that this cycle has to offer. Realizing that there are so many other mothers that are struggling with the same challenges you’re facing and being vulnerable enough to release your hurt and pain. Not to compare situations, but to realize life happened and not only is it ok, but now allowing God to happen so that you can finally discover your “why”.

Meet Mariah

Just a regular girl from the Southside of Chicago trying to have an impact on the world and leave a legacy behind that my daughter can be proud of. As a young girl I always knew I wanted to grow up and help women and children. Never having an idea of why or how but that dream always sticking near and dear to my heart. Maneuvering through life’s hardships while going after all of my dreams I’m finally able to check this special one off of my list. Being able to write a book to help this population of women I’ve grown to love so much is a dream come true.
